ECNs are high-performance electronic sirens intended for complex mass warning systems, regional, municipal or large industrial complexes, with multiple series, made by the german manufacturer Hörmann Warnsysteme GmbH. These sirens are known for being of a lighter body weight (the acoustic head) and higher temperature resistance, as well as for efficient amplifiers, compared for example to the MAESTRO or TESLA UEAJ sirens.
Just like other electronic sirens, ECNs can be activated locally or remotely, via BMIS, radio pagers, etc. Like most electronic sirens, these are usually equipped with dipole antennas for communication. ECN sirens are, as own now, less common in Czechia, and can be found especially in Prague or Hradec Králové, being the dominant series installed in the cities and their centers. (Prague)
The siren comes in multiple power series. In the Czech Republic, the most commonly spotted series are the 600 and 1200 variants, although 1800 variant is also frequent. ECN 2400 variant is rare and ECN 3000s are believed to be absent. Custom variants are also less common, but are present. The sirens can be recognized by the specific horn layouts (180 degree, 360 degree or omnidirectional horn configurations) on the siren mast and the HÖRMANN logos on the sides of the aluminum horns.
ECN sirens belong to one of the first modern electronic sirens being installed in Czechia since the 1990s and therefore one of the oldest.
